You are bidding on a World War II official U.S. Army Signal Corps photo of the U.S. First Cavalry Division crossing a water tank trap on Leyte Island. The photo measures approximately 8" tall and 10" wide. The following is stamped in purple ink on the back: "SC 195585-S TANK TRAP: A water tank trap, one of the many futile attempts made by the retreating Japanese on Leyte Island to retard the onslaught of the American invasion, is crossed by members of the famed U.S. 1st Cavalry Division. SWPA, 1944. SIGNAL CORPS PHOTO PLEASE CREDIT RELEASED FOR PUBLICATION BY BUREAU OF PUBLIC RELATIONS WAR DEPARTMENT". There is also a sticker adhered to the back with the same typed description of the photo. "195585" is written in blue pencil on the back. The U.S. Army Signal Corps logo appears in the lower left corner. The photo does not lie flat but is in good condition. The corners show minor wear and some discoloration.
