Description
Up for sale is a nostalgic book from the Waco Army Flight School which documents the instructors and cadets trained at this flight school during World War 2. The book is titled on the front "WILCO FORTY-TWO J" and features embossed lettering and embossed planes on the front cover. It was published by Newsfoto Publishing of San Angelo Texas presumably in 1942. I believe the term WILCO stands for "will comply". The book documents photos of the aviation staff, instructors, and cadets from the school. These cadets were in the Army as the Air Force was not formed until after WW2. I do not see any writing on any of the pages other than the owners name inside the front cover and one notation in pen next to an outlined cadet's photo which reads "KILLED Feb. 1943 SPUN IN". There are written descriptions of a day in the life of the cadets and black and white photos of planes and training exercises. There is even an autographs blank page so that the book was likely given to cadets as a type of graduation book documenting their basic flight training during the war. Please see all of the photos for more detailed size and condition. Quite a fascinating look at the early training of US aviation pilots!!Please contact me with any questions that you might have especially if, after viewing the picture(s), you are unsure of the condition of the item(s).
