Some notes about Yamaha Service Manuals.  Over the years of selling audio repair manuals I have come to realize that no other manufacturer has as many variants of their service manuals as Yamaha.  Here are some tidbits that I have learned as far as their factory issued manuals go.  The high-end manuals come in a nice blue binder.  They have nice photographs throughout and high quality paper.  I believe these were mostly issued for 1970s era equipment.  Nice collector items.  These manuals were also issued without the binder often black print with orange highlights.  These are very nice manuals with excellent fold-out schematics. This style seems to have been issued into the early 1980s.  By the late 1980s most manuals were predominantly black ink but the schematics usually maintained some of the orange highlights.  They seem to have maintained this style at least into the late 1990s.  Many manuals were issued to the service stations in binders.  Often these manuals had a light gray cover.  These usually, but not always, have the orange highlights. Often manuals that came in a binder will be sold as loose-leaf since staples may not have been used.  There are also factory issued reprints out there.  Once a manual was out of print a service center could still get a copy.  These would not have any original color and items such as circuit board diagrams may not be as clear as the original.  Usually the schematics are nice fold-outs but again lacking any original color.  Still a good proper service manual overall.
