    Description

    100 Portuguese Escudos banknote (Manuel du Bocage)
    The Banco de Portugal issued Portuguese Escudo banknotes in 9 different denominations, including this 100 Portuguese Escudos banknote (Manuel du Bocage). They are part of the demonetized Portuguese Escudo banknotes series. The Banco de Portugal started issuing these 100 Portuguese Escudo banknotes in 1980. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1986.
    The 100 escudos banknote has a portrait of Portuguese poet Manuel du Bocage on the front side. On the back side of the blue colored Cem Escudos Ouro bill is a 19th Century scene of Rossio Square in Lisbon.
