    Description

British Virgin Islands 1973 6-Coin Proof Set PNCs
Brilliant Frosted Proof Quality; Matching Stamp & Coin Designs
The Franklin Mint produced the proof coins in this PNC set. There are six coins and six stamps with matching coin images on them. The coins are part of the first official minting of coinage by the B.V.I. The stamps, in addition to depicting the coins, are all beach scenes. The stamps are from the British Virgin Islands. The Franklin Mint made the PNCs and issued the sets of six in blue vinyl folders. A total of 181,000 frosted proof coins, of each denomination, were made. The number of PNCs that were made is unknown to the owner. The Franklin Mint also sold proof sets in presentation cases.
The blue folder has "British Virgin Islands" and their shield or seal printed in sliver on the cover. The folder is about 12-1/2" high and 8-3/8" wide; and it contains two clear vinyl pages with slots for the six PNCs. Each 7-1/2" by 3-5/16" PNC envelope has a window so that both the front and back of the coins can be seen. The front has a matching stamp with a First Day of Issue postmark from individual islands of the B.V.I. The back of each envelope has a Certificate of Authenticity. There are no names or addresses on the PNC envelopes. More information on the coins and stamps is contained in the accompanying charts.
This PNC set has been stored since it was purchased in 1973. It is effectively in new condition. Please see the photos.
