I REALLY NEED TO SELL THIS AND OTHER ITEMS - "life" is making these tough decisions necessary...The following is a part of a very large collection of memorabilia, all of which I have collected over my lifetime. I am looking for a good home for each.
NOTE: The text across the photo is photoshopped on to prevent copying.
This is an EXTREMELY RARE and COLLECTIBLE ITEM - an original AP wire photo showing the Aug. 26 1944 wild scene in the streets of Paris celebrating the liberation of Paris from Nazi Germany!!! The photo is truly incredible in its pure joy and historical significance!!!
The cutline description on the front, titled "THOUSANDS JAM PARIS SQUARE": "Thousands of Parisians jam the Place de L 'Hotel de Ville (City Hall) in the French capital August 26 during the big parade for Gen. Charles de Gaulle. Other citizens peer from windows and balconies. Allied flags fly. Stars and stripes are on car in foreground. Part of city hall shows at extreme right. This picture was made by Peter J. Carroll, Associated Press photographer in the war picture pool". On the back is a library stamp post-dated Sept. 2 1944, along with the AP ink stamp.
This photo is so beautiful - showing a sea of celebratory euphoric people jammed onto the streets of Paris after the city was liberated by Allied forces (Aug. 19-25 1944).
This photo is ONE OF A KIND! I have never seen another version of it anywhere. DON'T MISS OUT!!!
I have lots of sports and other collectibles I will be listing - programs, media guides, photos, baseball cards, hockey cards, etc... If you have any questions, please send me a note!
Happy bidding!
